Professional Background

Zdeněk focuses on mergers and acquisitions, utilities, and sports, media and gaming law. He has a solid track record of mid-size and large mergers and acquisitions transactions, including cross-border CEE deals.
Zdeněk has been cooperating with PETERKA & PARTNERS since 2000 and became a Partner of the firm in 2010. Currently, he is the Leader of the Sport, Media and Gaming practice at PETERKA & PARTNERS.
Among the major deals he has participated in was the purchase of several administrative buildings in Prague by the ECE European City Estates group, the value of which exceeded €120 million. During his spell in Slovakia, where he co-managed the firm's office in Bratislava for a couple of years, he advised Veolia Group on the acquisition of two regional water utilities operators; the value of the deal was in the tens of millions of euros.
He also advised SANEF during its successful participation in a tender concerning the Complex Service of Electronic Toll Collection, one of the largest public-private partnership projects in Slovak history (an €852-million DBFO contract granted for 13 years).
After returning to the Prague office, Zdeněk participated in the sale of majority participation in the water utilities operator Vodárna Plzeň by Veolia Group to the City of Plzen, the value of which exceeded €25 million.
Among recent mandates, Zdeněk has advised Banque PSA Finance with the divestment of its participations in subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia to the Société Générale group, as well as advising the NKT Group with the divestment of its automotive cable business in the Czech Republic; the values of both transactions were in the tens of millions of euros.
Zdeněk also regularly publishes in Online Gambling Lawyer magazine in connection with Czech gambling law.
Last but not least, acting as a counsel for the leading Czech football club for several years, Zdeněk is well known as one of most significant Czech sports lawyers and gives lectures to university students on sports law.
